Ingredient Spotlight #4

We've talked about Shea Butter, but that's not the only butter we want to shine a spotlight on. In this blog post we're talking about Cocoa Butter which features in our Clay Butter Cleanser.

It might seem a bit odd to have butters in a cleanser, but by adding Cocoa Butter it helps to balance out the more potential drying effects of bentonite clay and tea tree oils which are also found in the Clay Butter Cleanser. Cocoa Butter also contains stearic acid which is known to help remove dirt, sweat and excess sebum from the skin.

When it comes to antioxidants, Cocoa Butter is an absolute powerhouse! An ingredient high in antioxidants helps to fight off free-radical damage such as aging, dark patches and dull skin. Along with free-radical damage, the antioxidants found in Cocoa Butter help to kill off the bacteria that produce acne, along with aiding to smooth out acne scars. Taking it one step further, Cocoa Butter even helps to encourage new cell grouth and faster healing times.

Some of the major moisturizing components of Cocoa Butter include linoleic acid (omega 6 / vitamin F), oleic acids (omega 9), palmatic acids, vitamin K and E. It really is the perfect ingredient to complement all the other ingredients in our Clay Butter Cleanser!
